Every voice has a story.
An inspiring four-part documentary series, Choir Games follows the teenagers and conductors of two remarkable choirs—New Zealand’s Kaitāia Community Voices and the Young People’s Chorus of New York City—as they embark on a life-changing journey to the 2024 World Choir Games, the largest choral competition on Earth.
With over 250 choirs from 42 countries converging in Auckland, New Zealand, the road to ‘The Games’ is nothing short of epic. For the teenage singers, the path is marked by challenging childhoods and fierce competition. Guiding them through it all are extraordinary conductors who serve as both musical mentors and personal guides. These maestros navigate health concerns, cultural traditions, financial barriers, and complex family dynamics—all while inspiring their singers to give everything they’ve got.
Despite their contrasting backgrounds—whether tending chickens on a remote New Zealand farm or navigating the skyscrapers of Manhattan—the young choristers are united by the joy of singing some of the world’s most beautiful music alongside the best choirs on the planet.
From their first rehearsals to their climactic performances, the series captures the common struggles, dreams, and unyielding resilience of young people who, though worlds apart, are bound by their love of music. Choir Games is a deeply moving, often hilarious exploration of the transformative power of song.
